Plan to demolish historic Green Belt house

A PLAN to demolish a historic house at Lymm and build two new detached houses within its grounds is to be put to councillors at Warrington.

Field House stands well back from the A56 Higher Lane between Lymm and Broomedge.

According to the Cheshire Archaeology Planning Advisory Service, it is of historical value and has archaeological significance on a local level. They recommend that if planning consent is granted, a full archaeological record should be made before demolition is carried out.

The scheme also involves demolition of an adjacent barn which was converted for residential use some years ago.

Officers are recommending the proposals be approved – but Lymm Parish Council is opposed to the scheme on the grounds that the site is in the Green Belt.
