Appeal after man suffers broken jaw in street attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was seriously assaulted in Warrington. 
At about 3am on Sunday June 24 a 25-year-old man from the town was walking underneath the railway bridge on Battersby Lane when he came across an altercation between a group of between six to eight men.
He attempted to intervene but the men, who all looked in their late 40s and were smartly dressed in suits, turned on him.The man was repeatedly kicked and punched by the group and was left with a broken jaw.Detective
Constable John Parr said: “This man was acting as a good Samaritan. He approached the group of men to diffuse a fight and ended up being seriously assaulted.“We are determined to catch those responsible for this unprovoked assault and bring them to justice.“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed it or believes they may know who the offenders are.
“I urge anyone with any information that may help us with our investigation, no matter how small, to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 114417, give us the details via https://cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
