A blatant incident of fly tipping on a residential road in Appleton, Warrington, has outraged local councillors and residents, with the person responsible, if caught, facing the risk of a big fine and imprisonment!
The bags of rubbish, including distinctive wallpaper, were dumped on Broomfields Road, Appleton, sometime yesterday.
Now an appeal has been launched to try and catch the person responsible.
Local parish councillor Gerry Palmer said: “There must be at least 20 bags of rubbish all over the street full of wallpaper which is very distinctive.
“It is clearly a case of fly tipping on the road side in a residential area. Hopefully someone will recognise the distinctive wallpaper so the person responsible can be caught.”
A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “A report of fly tipping on Broomfield’s Road, Appleton has been submitted and an investigation is in progress.
“Fly tipping is a criminal offence punishable by a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months imprisonment if convicted in a Magistrates’ Court. The offence can attract an unlimited fine and up to 5 years imprisonment if convicted in a Crown Court.
“Environmental crime officers welcome the support of the public in reporting fly tipping, including any information that might help investigators track down those responsible.”
