HUNDREDS of people turned out in force in glorious sunshine at Warrington’s annual Service of Remembrance to pay their respects to all those who have lost their lives in various conflicts.

As people gathered in silence Lt Colonel Les Taylor Duff TD said: “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”

This was followed by the Last Post and two minutes silence.

A scripture reading was read by Father Christopher Cunningham, Roman Catholic Dean of Warrington was followed by prayers led by Rector of Warrington The Revd. Paul Wilson. Further prayers were led by the Warrington Council of Faiths and Warrington Free Churches.

Wreaths were laid by civic dignitaries including the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Les Morgan, DL Norman Banner, local MPs Helen Jones and Faisal Rashid, Council Chief Executive NSteven Broomhead and representatives of the town’s political parties.

Meanwhile other services took place across the town, including Lymm. Video coverage of the service has kindly been supplied by RAF Air Cadets, 2137 Lymm Sqn, see below.
