A LUNCH in aid of St Rocco’s at Laskey Farm, Thelwall, Warrington, has raised £5,500 for the hospice.

The event was organised by Howard and Wendy Platt in memory of Bill Spencer, a former director at Lockers in Warrington, who was treated at the hospice.

Guests enjoyed champagne and canapés and music from Lymm singer Lucy Barlow and all donations will go to help provide care with life limiting illnesses and supporting their families.

Bill’s wife, Maggie, 64, who lives in Stockton Heath, said: “We are so pleased to have been able to raise such a fantastic amount for St Rocco’s and would like to thank everyone for their generous donations.

“We’re also so grateful to Howard and Wendy for organising the event and letting us use their garden and the kindness they have showed us as a family since losing Bill.

The care St Rocco’s gave Bill when he was ill will never be forgotten, and we wanted to give something back to recognise this.”

Howard, who worked with Bill added: “The turnout and the generosity shown were a clear reflection of the high regard everyone attending had both for Bill Spencer and for the great work done by St Rocco’s.”
