A HOODED thug got away with cash from a Warrington newsagents’ shop after threatening a shop assistant.
The raid was at the News and Booze shop in Norris Street, Warrington at about 6.50pm yesterday (Monday).
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the offender in the area carrying a blanket.
The thug used the blanket to conceal a weapon which he produced after entering the shop.
It is not clear what the weapon was – but the terrified shop assistant handed over a two figure sum and the offender left the shop.
He was wearing a black, hooded top with the hood up. There was white lettering on the front of the top and the man wore a scarf over his face.
Police believe the man may have been seen by passersby shortly before and after the offence.
Anyone who can help should call DS Gordon Wilson on 01244 615842 or use the confidential Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
