Warrington town centre rocks with Comic Con and Music Festival

WARRINGTON town centre was rocking as Comic Con Comic returned to Warrington Market alongside Warrington Music Festival in Golden Squares.

The events attracted thousands of people into the town centre helping boost local trade.

Comic Con was part of a series of activitives organised by the market during the national Love Your Local Market campaign, which runs until 31 May and enourages people to take a fresh look at their own local market

Highlights at the event included a Stargate transporter portal from the hit the TV Show of the same name, which was on display inside the market, alongside a full size T-65 X-Wing Starfighter, a Speeder Bike from the Empire Strikes Back and a selection of droids, including R2D2, BB-8 and R5 from the Star Wars films.

Fans also had a chance to see a selection of famous cars, including Lightening McQueen, from the film ‘ Car’s’, Transformers no nonsense commander, Barricade and the famous black and red van from the 80’s TV classic, the A-Team.

Dr Who and his Tardis, Daleks and Cybermen also joined in the fun.

There were plenty of stalls offering all manner of geek culture collectables and goodies, a retro gaming area all set to free play and costume characters including favourites, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman, Superman, Iron Man, Captain American and plenty for the younger ones too, including Characters from theTrolls, Moana and Frozen.

Meanwhile Golden Square was rocking with local bands taking part in the annual Warrington Music Festival which continued through late into the evening, with a special guest appearance from Slydigs who recently toured with The Who.

The Music Festival continues tomorrow, Sunday.
