Pensioner robbed in own home

WARRINGTON police are appealing for witnesses after a 78-year-old woman was robbed in ger own home in Gorsey Lane on Tuesday December 30 shortly after 6pm.
A man called at the 78-year-old occupant’s home and when she opened the door he pushed his way in and demanded money before making off on foot with a quantity of cash.
The offender is described as male, white in his late 20s to 30s and of medium build and 5’6” tall. He was of clean appearance with short brown hair wearing a black padded jacket.
Detective Inspector Dougie Shaw said: “Older people are especially vulnerable in terms of this sort of incident and really do need to be wary when answering the door. Where possible, it is a sensible step to look through a window before opening the door to any unexpected visitor.”
