Second fire in six days

FIRE crews were called to a Warrington street for the second time in six days this morning after fire broke out in a flat.

Two men were led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus as dense smoke filled the flat in Jurby Court, Padgate. One of the pair was suffering from smoke inhalation.

It is thought the blaze was caused by carelessly discarded smoking materials and firefighters used two hosereel jets to extinghish the well-established fire

The earlier fire was on Sunday – and was caused by a pan left unattended on a cooker.
