A 44-year-old woman was arrested at an address in Warrington today and is being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Police say a 43-year-old man was also arrested.
Earlier this month, police issued an appeal for information about a convicted rapist who had gone on the run after being released from prison on licence while serving a nine-year jail term.
John Hinton, who was said to have connections in the Warrington area, was convicted of kidnapping and raping his former partner in 2002.
He was released on licence but failed to return to his last known address on September 11.
