A special event to encourage people to get involved in physical activity and sport is set to take place in Warrington, linked in with the Paralympic Games celebrations.
Organised by Warrington Schools Sports Partnership and Warrington Disability Partnership, live coverage of the hand over of the Paralympic torch will be shown at the sporting event in Birchwood.
The Event, which is open to all school children and young people, able bodied or with a disability that love sport and want to be part of the action, is being held at Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Centre on September 17 from 12-4pm.
The children and young people will be invited to try out Boccia, Curling, Football, Wheelchair Tennis and Basketball, and to enjoy a demonstration from Liverpool and Everton Football Club Disability professional teams and a presentation from Mark Eccleston- tennis Olympian.
Radio Warrington will also be in attendance reporting live as the events unfold in Birchwood and Beijing, while Warrington Schools Sports Partnerships (WaSSP) welcomes Marc Simon and Edward Barker who have joined the Partnership team as Further Education Sports Co-Coordinators ( FESCos). The two new team members, who are based at Warrington Collegiate and Priestley College, have joined with Dave Connor from Warrington Disability Partnership to organise this event.
The event hopes to motivate children and young people, whether with a disability or able bodied, to get involved in physical activity and sport.
