School praised for “transformational” achievement

A TWO-day monitoring inspection of Warrington’s Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School has shown it is improving rapidly.
The inspection, carried out on January 20-21, resulted in the school receiving best judgement that can be awarded for a monitoring visit: “Leaders and managers are taking effective action towards the removal of special measures.”
Head teacher Beverly Scott-Herron said: “We are delighted with this judgement as it is evident that all the changes that have been implemented are having a substantial impact on learning and ultimately
outcomes for our young people.”
It was in November 2014 that Boteler was placed in special measures after an inspection by education watchdog Ofsted several months earlier.
The school has now had four monitoring reports which have shown significant improvements.
The latest has been described as a very positive experience for the school with the staff being praised for the rapid improvements that had been made in a short time.
Mrs Scott-Herron said: “The model I have created in school is one which will enable sustainability. I can assure you that we are doing everything possible to secure the best outcomes for the students both academically and in the widest sense.
“We want all our learners to have the best opportunities and experiences enabling them to be successful when they leave us to embark on their future. All the staff at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School are totally committed and fully subscribe to the school’s vision and values.
“This school is not the same school as it was in September 2014. Our HMI even commented that what we had achieved was transformational. He praised us for our determination and commitment to raising standards and communicated to us that we had done really well.”
Mrs Scott-Herron hopes the report demonstrates the pace in which things are changing. She also invites members of the community to visit the school to see it in action.
This can be arranged by calling the school on 01925 636414.
