NOMINATIONS are now open for the volunteer event of the year – Warrington’s Volunteer Star awards.
The borough council has teamed up with its partners at Warrington Voluntary Action to celebrate the vital role volunteers play within the community.
Unsung heroes whose work often goes unseen, but makes a positive impact to individual lives and communities will have a spotlight turned on them.
Cllr Kate Hannon (pictured), the borough council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture, said: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of our communities, a lifeline for many people and without them we’d all be a lot worse off.
“They put others first, often do the jobs others don’t want to do and many community groups and organisations simply wouldn’t exist without them.
“We all know somebody whose contribution deserves recognition, so let’s get nominating them!”
Nominations are open across seven categories.
