Chip pan sparks works blaze

A SERIOUS fire was caused at a works building in Warrington this morning – apparently as a result of a chip pan being left unattended.
The blaze was at premises on the Alban Retail Park, off Hawleys Lane.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene shortly before 9am.
Crews used two hose reel jets, two dry powder extinguishers and one covering jet as they tackled the blaze, wearing breathing apparatus.
Afterwards a ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the building.
Firefighters also inspected the roof of the building to make sure the fire had not spread.
In another incident, firefighters from Stockton Heath went to Broad Lane, Grappenhall to help paramedics respond to a road collision involving a motor cycle.
Firefighters removed barbed wire fencing so paramedics could reach the casualty who had been thrown into a nearby field.
No other vehicle was involved in the incident.
