MORE than 40 students from Lymm High School’s Sixth Form have taken part in the DEAF Fellowship sign language programme over the last two terms.
They have been working with Esmail Patel, Director of the Deaf Education Advocacy Fellowship (DEAF).
Esmail is behind a special course which allows students to learn basic sign language.
As a result, the students have achieved a better understanding of how to effectively communicate with deaf people.
DEAF provides an advocacy service for deaf and disabled people and signposts them towards education and employment opportunities.
Lymm High School is extremely proud of all the students who have been involved in this and have achieved the Introductory Award in British Sign Language and the Deaf Awareness Certificate.
Mrs Ryles-Dean, Director of Sixth Form said “Enrichment opportunities like these are what make students at Lymm High School Sixth Form stand out from the crowd and we are looking forward to offering similar opportunities in the next academic year”.
