ASPIRING stars of the future from Warrington Collegiate will showcase their talents at a special event to be held at the Pyramid Arts Centre tomorrow (Friday)
Called “The Big I Am”, the event will feature students on music, dance and drama courses and will raise funds for the Warrington Music Festival.
The Big I Am is being organised by the Warrington Music Collective, a group made up of various collective communities in the town.
Student Rhys Wain, 18, from Birchwood, who will be playing the guitar for his band, The Magic Herb Girl, at the event, said: “The Big I Am is great opportunity for creative arts students to get out there and perform.
“We will be playing our own stuff and a few covers by bands that inspired us such as AC/DC and Neil Young.”
Rachel Leyland, 19, who is studying for a National Diploma in Dance at the Collegiate is excited about performing at the Big I Am.
She said: “Having a performing arts festival in Warrington is important because it provides an outlet for students to use their skills, whether it is music, dance or drama.”
Steve Oates, Music Technology lecturer at the Collegiate, added: “Our students always put on a fantastic show and it’s all in support of the music festival which is a worthwhile cause.
“The Warrington Music Collective is now in its second year and we are hoping to make this an annual event.”
