Shop assistant injured by robbers

A SHOP assistant was injured when two thugs, one brandishing a piece of wood,
robbed a convenience store near Warrington.
The raiders escaped with cash and cigarettes from the Spar Shop in Bridgewater Grange,
Preston Brook.
Police said two men entered the shop at about 9.45pm on Wednesday (April 9).<BR>
They demanded money from the till and threatened the lone assistant with the piece of
wood.
They they vaulted the counter, snatched cash and cigarettes, assaulted the assistant
and left.
One of the men was in his early 20s, slim and about 5ft 10 inches tall. He was wearing
a hooded, two-tone blue tracksuit.
The second man was of similar age and build and wore a grey tracksuit.
Police are appealing for witnesses who should call 01244 613 952 or use the confidential
