A leading Warrington doctor is supporting a “fantastic” men’s health campaign for the town.
Dr Sue Burke (p[ictured right) is Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group’s Clinical Lead for Cancer.
She is backing ‘Hey Mr!’, the new men’s cancer campaign run by the town’s Public Health team.
Men are less likely to get early help for illnesses like lung and bowel cancer, which leads to poorer survival rates.
Public Health will be at events in Warrington over the summer carrying out lifestyle checks and raising cancer awareness
Dr Burke, also a GP at Springfield Medical Centre, said: “Hey Mr is a fantastic campaign!
“Men are notoriously difficult to reach with health messages as they have little routine need of health care services.
“Testicular cancer particularly affects young men but there is a high chance of complete cure when caught early.
“The ‘know your body’ message is key to recognising change and presenting early.”
Public Health will have teams at Warrington Mela, Queens Gardens Sunday 10 August 12–5.30pm and Woolston Show, Woolston Park, Sunday 7 September 12–4pm.
