A LYMM dad defied storms which lashed the country to complete a 300-mile charity bike ride to raise money for a pre-school.
Steve Mee, from Ashcroft Road, cycled from his home in Lymm to Hull and back again to raise £250 for St
Mary’s Pre-School.
The ride took him 24 hours of pedalling, the weather was shocking and at one time he had to cope with a faulty brake.
But he made it back safely, and impressed other parents so much they voted him chairman of the pre-school committee!
It was the first time Steve had attempted a long-distance cycle ride.
His daughter, Neve Cole, aged three, attends the pre-school every week.
Steve said: “I really wanted to do something to help St Mary’s because Neve has such a brilliant time there. Although the pre-school has been part of the Lymm community for many years it needs support so it can continue to offer families the option of friendly low-cost childcare.”
Lynn Smith, manager of St Mary’s said: “We’re incredibly grateful for Steve’s help. The children love to cycle in the outdoor play area at pre-school and this sets a great example for them.”
