FORMER Warrington Wolves’ Chairman Lord Doug Hoyle has been elected President of the All Parliamentary Rugby League Group for the forthcoming year.
Lord Hoyle, who is also President at the Wolves, stepped up from his role as Vice-Chairman at the recent annual general meeting at which the Group elected officers for its 25th anniversary and Rugby League World Cup years.
The Warrington Wolves President sits on the Group which brings together Members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons with the single purpose to support the sport of Rugby League. The Group meets once a month when Parliament is sitting to discuss issues that are important to the sport and to hear from those that work within Rugby League at all levels.
Gerry Sutcliffe MP, secretary of the APRLG, said: “I am delighted that Lord Hoyle has been elected as the Group’s new President. He has been a great servant of this fantastic game during his time in both Houses of Parliament and I know he will be a great asset to the Group.”
