Health watchdog launches

A NEW organisation, Healthwatch Warrington, launches on Monday and will enable local people to help shape health and social care services in the town.
It will ensure patients, service users and their families are at the heart of all future decision-making. It will be run by a recently appointed and independent board of directors:
Chairman is Cllr Judith Guthrie, who qualified as a nurse in 1976 and has worked in various roles in the NHS since then. She is vice-chair of Halton Hospice, a lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University and is a ward councillor for Westbrook.
Deputy chair is former school teacher Eileen Fitzgerald. She sits on the West Warrington Neighbourhood Board and is chairman of the local Older People,s Engagement Group which acts as a voice for older people in Warrington.
The organisation will link to the new national group Healthwatch England and industry watchdog the Care Quality Commission. it will also be working closely with the local Clinical Commissioning Group and Warrington’s Health and Wellbeing Board.
