Warrington Youth Zone is inviting businesses from across the region to come together for its next Business Breakfast, taking place on Wednesday 9 September, from 8:00am to 10:00am.
The event will feature an inspirational talk from Andy Reid MBE, a triple amputee, veteran, motivational speaker and co-founder of the Standing Tall Foundation.
Designed to bring Warrington’s business community together at the leading youth charity in the town, to provide an opportunity for local businesses to network, connect and hear from the UK’s most inspirational speakers.
Andy Reid MBE is a survivor, not a victim. In October 2009, then Corporal Andy Reid stepped on a Taliban improvised explosive device while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. So severe were his injuries that it was initially thought he would not survive. However, Andy defied the odds and, within a month, was able to meet members of his patrol again.
Since becoming a triple amputee, Andy has gone on to complete numerous arduous challenges to raise money and support the organisations that helped him and his family through difficult times. His experiences have shaped a powerful message about self-belief, resilience and overcoming adversity to achieve great things.
Andy’s story extends far beyond his military service. Having been a young carer and experienced dyslexia at school, as well as serving on peacekeeping missions and in frontline roles, Andy has a unique understanding of the challenges faced by people in communities across the country.
In 2020, Andy and his friend John Tabern founded the Standing Tall Foundation, which works to promote the mental and physical wellbeing of communities through mental health counselling, addiction support and physical activity initiatives. The Foundation now operates from its STF Hub in St Helens, while continuing to provide individual support to people facing challenges including homelessness, mental health difficulties, addiction, job loss and attempted suicide.
A highly accomplished motivational speaker, Andy has spoken at corporate engagements across the country and his story has left a lasting impression on audiences.
Speaking on the importance of the Youth Zone, Andy Reid MBE said: “I’m really looking forward to supporting this event and the Youth Zone, it’s extremely important to have venues like this for young people to grow and learn outside of a school environment The event will also provide an opportunity for businesses to build new connections and strengthen existing relationships within Warrington’s thriving business community.”
Breakfast will be provided by Brunch, with coffee supplied by RoastHouse, ensuring guests can enjoy a great start to the morning while connecting with fellow business leaders and professionals.
