Properties evacuated as fire involving e-bike damages gas main

SEVERAL properties were evacuated earlier today after a fire involving an e-bike at a residential property in Croft, Warrington, damaged a gas main.

At 09:53, crews from Warrington and Greater Manchester attended at the property at Round Thorn, Croft.

Fire crews attended a fire believed to have involved an e-bike at a residential property.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
The fire caused damage to a gas main inlet serving the property, resulting in a gas leak. Several properties were evacuated while emergency work was carried out.
Cadent Gas attended and confirmed that the damaged supply needed to be isolated externally. A specialist Cadent excavation team attended and capped off the gas supply, making the area safe.
There were no reported injuries.
