WARRINGTON Borough Council has come under fire over broken safety railings at a busy junction in Stockton Heath.

Ward Cllrs. Judith Wheeler and Sharon Harris have criticised the Council for failing to act on missing railings at a busy junction in Stockton Heath

There have been two recent accidents in Victoria Square which have damaged the railings.
They said: “Despite requests from ourselves and Stockton Heath Parish Council to repair them, even on a temporary basis to make them safe, the Council has failed to act. Temporary bollards have been installed around one damaged stretch of railings but on the opposite side of the Square, nothing.
“This is a very busy junction for traffic and pedestrians. Both need protecting which is why the railings are installed. This is another accident waiting to happen and someone could be seriously hurt.”
A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “We are aware that some sections of railings have been damaged and are currently sourcing a supplier to either replace or repair the damaged sections as soon as possible.”
