Emergency road closure at Lumb Brook Road to repair overhead cable

AN emergency road closure will come into force at Lumb Brook Road, Appleton, this Sunday, May 3rd, to allow urgent repairs to an overhead cable.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice that, with effect from Sunday 3rd May 2026 for a period not exceeding 1 day, Lumb Brook Road from its junction with Dingle Lane to its junction with Witherwin Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic.
It is anticipated that the works will continue for a period of 1 day as and when the signs are in place on site.
The alternative route will be via Lumb Brook Road via Stretton Road, Blackcap Road, Dipping Brook Avenue, Longwood Road, Witherwin Avenue and vice-versa.
The reason for the emergency closure is to allow Open Reach to carry out urgent repairs to an overhead cable.
