WITH National Pizza Day (9th February) just around the corner new research has revealed Warrington as the 9th cheapest pizza hotspot in the UK!
The UK’s obsession with a cheesy slice is stronger than ever, with over 2 in 5 Brits ranking pizza as one of their top three takeaway cravings.
Catering equipment suppliers Alliance Online analysed the cost of an average pizza in the UK’s top 50 most populated cities and towns to reveal the top 10 serving up the most affordable slices.
The average Brit will enjoy more than 730 pizzas in their lifetime.
Warrington ranks 9th among the UK’s cheapest pizza hotspots, with the average price for a 12” margherita costing just £9.64. That’s nearly 14% less than the national average of £11.27! Warrington also offers 48 pizza places for takeaway fans, making it a top destination this National Pizza Day.
Meanwhile, Bolton has been crowned the UK’s cheapest pizza hotspot, with the average price for a 12” margherita costing just £8.32. That’s nearly £3.00 less than the national average of £11.27! Even compared to neighbouring Manchester (£9.42), Bolton diners save nearly one-tenth of the cost. Despite its size, this town offers 99 pizza places for takeaway fans, making it the ultimate destination for a budget-friendly margherita.
Middlesbrough takes second place, with pizza-lovers paying an average of £8.33 for a 12” pizza. This budget-friendly price sits over one-quarter (28.94%) below the national average. With 84 pizza takeaways, residents aren’t just saving money, they’re also spoilt for choice. Nearby Sunderland ranks 10th, with an average price of £9.65, making Middlesbrough the clear winner for value in the North East.
Ranking in third is Huddersfield, with a 12” takeaway margherita pizza costing £8.70. With 89 pizza outlets to choose from, residents can grab a slice at roughly three-quarters of the national average price. This is further proof that the North is the reigning champion of affordable pizza.
