POLICE and Crime Commissioner Dan Price is calling on people to apply for the voluntary role of independent custody visitor – and help make a difference to policing in Cheshire.
He said: “I am supported by many volunteers in Cheshire.
“They play an important role in the scrutiny of the Constabulary and their recommendations shape improvements in the way services are delivered. I wouldn’t be able to do my role without their insightful feedback.”
Independent custody visiting is a statutory requirement performed by Police and Crime Commissioners, providing independent oversight to the detention of people in custody.
Mr Price saidd: “If you would like to try something different, checking on the welfare of people in Cheshire Constabulary’s custody suite, making sure they’re offered something to eat and drink, treated with dignity and respect and are afforded what is required by law, then I’d love to hear from you.”
Applications are now open and will close on Friday January 23. Interviews will be held on February 4-5.
Information about the role and application pack are available here: https://www.cheshire-pcc.gov.uk/
