Army's presentation to town

A SPECIAL flag has been presented to Warrington by the region’s most senior soldier, Brigadier Nick Fitzgerald, at a ceremony at the Town Hall.
The presentation was one of a number of events across the town to commemorate Armed Forces Day.
Brigadier Fitzgerald, commander of 42 (North West) Brigade, presented the flag to the Mayor, Cllr Steve Wright.
Representatives of the town’s veterans, neighbouring authorities and other uniformed organisations were present.
There was also a forces event at Peninsula Barracks and the and the Tom Sephton Memorial Trophy Rugby League match was also played.
Cllr David Keane, the council’s executive member for environment and public protection, said: “The day was an opportunity to show our appreciation for the men and women who make up the armed forces community. It honoured those, past and present, who have served in the armed forces and provided support to their families.”
