From Nashville to Warrington – Lost Hollow turn old Poacher song into Country hit

VIDEO: FROM a world away in Nashville, Country band Lost Hollow crossed the Atlantic to perform an old Poacher classic “Buttermarket” at a special civic reception hosted by the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr. Mo Hussain.

Lost Hollow, featuring Tommy and Lorrie Harden, arrived in Warrington, where they will also perform alongside local music legend Pete “Sarge” Frampton at Winmarleigh House later tonight (Friday)

While Sarge lived on Buttermarket Street and his manager Dave Warwick had offices on the same street, he admits the song isn’t about the road, but about a homecoming.
Originally from Guernsey, Sarge as he likes to be known, not to be confused with another Peter Frampton, carved out his musical career in Warrington, with well-known folk band Poacher, while also more recently guesting with The Bog Trotters as well as his other band, The Escape Committee. He was also well-known locally as a guitar tutor.
Now, a twist of fate has seen “Buttermarket” re-released with a country-style makeover by Lost Hollow, thanks to his former manager’s daughter Rachel, who recorded a version of the song especially for her dad.
The song was heard by Lost Hollow, who recorded their own version to promote their forthcoming new album, which will be showcased in Warrington tonight.
While many who hear the song will think it is about Buttermarket Street, Sarge says it had more to do with him just liking the name.
The song has gone on to be a big hit in the States, peaking at Number 2 in a Country chart.
The get-together at the town hall provided an emotional trip down memory lane for Dave Warwick, with the song forever in his heart after being performed by his daughter.
