WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed the departure of nine first-team squad members at the end of this season.
Stefan Ratchford, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Paul Vaughan, Ryan Matterson, Dan Russell, Tom Whitehead, Nolan Tupaea, Lucas Green and Zac Bardsley-Rowe will all depart the club.
Ratchford has announced his retirement from playing after a stellar 14 seasons at the club. The versatile veteran has played 357 appearances in primrose and blue, scoring 95 tries. He will take up a new role with the club at the end of the campaign.
Ratchford said: “It’s been a massive privilege to have represented this club for so many years.
“When I first arrived in 2012 I didn’t know if I’d last six months so to have been here for 14 years is a great feeling and it’s an unbelievable journey that I’ve had.
“I can’t thank the fans, my team mates, coaches, staff, the board, Simon Moran and everyone else involved at the club for taking me in from day one.”
Fitzgibbon will return to Australia at the end of the season after two years representing the Wire, making 39 appearances.
The second-rower said: “I’m deeply grateful to the Warrington Wolves for an unforgettable two years. Thank you to this remarkable club for the privilege of representing the proud town of Warrington.
“My appreciation goes to the board, my teammates, the coaching staff, and the incredible fans for your constant support and the memories we’ve shared. Wearing the Wolves jersey has been a true honour, and I’ll forever treasure my time here. I wish the club every success in the future.”
It was confirmed in July that Vaughan will join York Knights when his current contract expires. The prop has made 78 appearances across three seasons for the club.
Matterson will return to parent club Parramatta Eels when his loan expires.
Academy graduates Whitehead, Tupaea, Green and Bardsley-Rowe will also take up new opportunities elsewhere next season.
Russell had spent the second half of the season on loan at Salford Red Devils and will leave the club also at the end of 2025.
Connor Wrench announced his retirement from playing last month.
A special presentation will be made following full-time of our final home game of the regular season against Leigh Leopards on Saturday afternoon where fans can show their appreciation.
We thank all of our departing players for their effort and commitment during their time with the Club.
