FREE books will be up for grabs in Warrington – to celebrate the joy of reading.
Warrington libraries together with the Pyramid and the borough council’s adult and family learning services are taking part in giving away more than 250 books as part of World Book Night on Monday April 23 at three venues across Warrington.
The event is all about sharing a love of reading and the books have been specially printed by publishers for this giveaway.
To pick up a free copy, booklovers will need to be at one of the following places on the day: Warrington Bus Interchange – 4.30-6pm; Woolston Neighbourhood Hub – 4.30-6pm; The Pyramid – 6.30-8pm.
The list of books available is: Dreamworld of a Shopaholic, Sophie Kinsella;
Let The Right One In, John Ajvide Lindqvist; Small Island, Andrea Levy; Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier; How I Live Now, Meg Rosoff; Good Omens, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman; The Remains of the Day, Kazuo Ishiguro; A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens; Sleepyhead, Mark Billingham; Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen.
Now in its second year, World Book Night is a nationwide celebration of the reading, recommending and giving of books. More details are available at www.worldbooknight.org
This year’s event falls on UNESCO’s International Day of the Book and Shakespeare’s birthday.
Jan Souness, the borough council’s assistant director for neighbourhoods and culture, said: “World Book Night is a celebration of books and reading. Reading changes lives and at the heart of World Book Night lies the simplest of ideas and acts, that of putting a book into another person’s hand and saying ‘this one’s amazing, you have to read it’.”
The free books are offered one book per person, while stocks last.
