DECTIVES have issued an e-fit in connection with a robbery in Warrington.
The incident took place between 4pm and 4.20pm on Tuesday February 28 when the victim – a 53-year-old local woman – was walking her dog on wasteland near to Forrest Way on Gateworth Industrial Estate.
She was approached by a man who demanded she hand over her mobile phone and then punched her in the face.
He stole her rings from her fingers, including her wedding ring, and her watch and then fled the scene on foot.
The offender was in his late teens to early 20s, around 5ft 8 inches tall and of thin build with a poor complexion. He was dressed in dark clothing.
DC Neil Radley, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are currently carrying out a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or was in the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously to contact us immediately.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any information in relation to the identity of the offender.
“The victim was left with significant swelling and bruising to her face and was taken to Warrington Hospital to be checked over.”
Inspector Dave Griffiths, of Warrington West Neighbourhood Policing Unit, added: “Robberies of this type are uncommon in our area. This was a vicious attack, clearly motivated by the greed of the offender who appeared determined to steal anything of value from the victim.
“His actions are despicable and the victim has been robbed of sentimental belongings that are irreplaceable. I want to reassure the local community that we will do all we can to identify and bring to justice the person responsible.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
