CHRISTMAS is now less than a month away and Warrington is prepared for special events to mark the festive lights being switched on.
The lights were being put up in Stockton Heath on Sunday seven days ahead of the official lights switch on which takes place on December 1 at dusk (4:30pm).
The tree is in Victoria Square in the heart of the village at the junctions where Grappenhall Road, London Road and Walton Road meet.
The parish council has brought in stewards to ensure the event goes without a hitch.
Cllr Laurence Murphy, chairman of the parish council, will switch the lights on.
There will be performances from Birchwood Brass Band and carols sung by schoolchildren from St Thomas’ CE Primary School and Stockton Heath Primary School.
At Walton, the parish light switch on is at 5pm on November 30 at the green adjacent to the cenotaph near to the Stag pub. Father Christmas and his sleigh is expected to amke an appearance.
Festivities take place from dusk.
In the village of Culcheth, the lights will be switched on at 4:30pm on Saturday November 30.
Residents can join the parish council at the Millennium Gardens next to the Co-op. The choir will begin singing carols from 4pm ahead of the switch on.
In Bruche, the community lights switch on takes place on Sunday December 8 at 4:30pm at the Padgate Community Garden.
Santa is tipped to make an appearance on the corner of Padgate Lane and Brookland Street.
