When the Bridgewater Canal freezes up it causes problems for all who use it. Boatmen and ducks.
Here they deal with the problem in their own ways. For the ducks all it means is walking on the ice.
But the boatmen, at Lymm, have to barge their way through it – hoping it isn’t too thick to damage the boat.
The boatman are doing hard astern to get a good run at an icepack just ahead of them.
But the ducks are in the way – and have to waddle to a quieter area pretty quickly.
