Gym club victim of own success

A WARRINGTON based gymnastics club is becoming a victim of its own success after out growing its current venue.
Penketh Gymnastics Club has achieved 21 gold, 54 silver and 54 bronze medals in Cheshire and Merseyside competitions and been awarded Gym Mark and Club Mark accreditations.
Celebrating it’s fifth birthday, the club – based at Penketh High School – is proud of its gymnasts, some of who have been selected to represent the Cheshire and Merseyside Team over the years.
One member of the club, nine-year-old Eloise Hicks from Great Sankey, is being tipped for a bright future after being chosen to represent Cheshire and Merseyside.
Head Coach Sarah Muddimer says she has “high hopes” of Eloise having a bright future as a gymnast as she prepared to do her Grade 12.
Eloise is currently training three or four times a week and recently competed in the Inter County 4 Piece Competition in Liverpool, doing the floor, vault, bars and beams.
With more than 80 gymnasts and a waiting list of more than 100 children, the club relies on parents and local businesses to help raise funds.
To date they have managed to raise £6,000 which has been used to purchase much needed equipment.
However, the club is looking for sponsorship to accommodate more budding gymnasts and is looking for new premises to lease or rent and is recruiting more coaches
for the club.
