Busy weekend for fire crews

FIREFIGHTERS in the Warrington area were kept busy over the weekend – mainly as a result of the Guy Fawkes celebrations. But no serious incidents were reported.
A large fire broke out on open land off Stage Lane, Lymm early yesterday (Sunday) involving a quantity of rubbish and debris. Two fire engines were called to the scene and extinguished the blaze using hose reel jets.
Another fire in the open broke out at BT Skips in Antrim Road, Bewsey.
Two hose reel jets were used and a mechanical digger was used to drag burning refuse away from a nearby electrical sub-station.
Park furniture was damaged by fire near St Benedict’s Close, Warrington.
Fire crews were called to a kitchen fire in Montrose Close, Fearnhead, but the fire had been extinguished before they reached the scene. Damage was minimal.
A number of out-of-control bonfires were also dealt with.
