TEN nearby residents are opposing plans for a 12.5 metre high telecommunications mast to be shared by two mobile phone operators.
The development in Admirals Road, Birchwood, Warrington, is also opposed by Birchwood Town Council who say they are dismayed Vodafone and O2 are even considering the site.
They claim it is far too close to houses, would detract from the natural landscape and would become a prominent feature in the street scene.
They say are already some 18 mobile phone masts in Birchwood and ask why none of these are suitable.
The neighbours say the mast and associated ground level equipment will create an eyesore and could cause a road safety hazard.
But planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved and say it would have only have a minor impact on the character of the area.
