Pensioner assaulted by motorist

A 67-year-old man suffered a fractured hip after being pushed over in Warrington.
Police today appealed for witnesses to the assault on Winwick Road close to the Prince of Wales Pub at around 4.35pm last Friday (April 1).
The victim was waiting to cross the road close to the pedestrian area of Horsemarket Street and Winwick Street, where the driver of a black Vauxhall Insignia was hesitating in the road.
The victim shouted towards the driver and he drove on along Winwick Street towards Scotland Road.
A short time later, after he crossed the road, the victim was pushed from behind, which caused him to fall heavily to the ground close to the Prince of Wales Pub.
As he looked up, the victim the man who had been driving the black Insignia running away towards Scotland Road and Horsemarket Street.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a fractured hip.
Detective Constable Angela Gardiner from Warrington CID said: “This assault took place on a busy road in daylight and I am keen to speak to anyone that may have seen the incident. In particular I am keen to speak to the driver of a silver Volkswagen Crafter which was behind the black Insignia, who could be a vital witness.”
The offender is described as Asian, aged 30 to 35 years, of average build with dark receding hair. He was wearing a short cream jacket and light blue jeans.
