THE mystery surrounding a series of loud noises that could be heard across Warrington at around midnight, last night, has been solved.

Officers from Warrington Local Policing Unit received reports of a loud noise in the Latchford area just after midnight on Monday 12 December

Police conducted a thorough search and the mystery noise is believed to have been related to a power outage at the Unilever factory on Liverpool Road.
Concerned residents took to social media to attempt to discover the cause of the noise, which many people said they found alarming.

The factory permanently closed in October 2020 after 130 years in business.
Warrington Borough Council recently gave permission for the site to be demolished.
There are no current plans for any further developments to take place on the site once the demolition has been completed.
It is estimated that the full demolition would take place over a 10-month period.
