Police divert traffic as firefighters tackle car fire

FIREFIGHTERS wearing breathing apparatus tackled a car fire on Waterworks Lane, Winwick, during the early hours of today.

Police were also called out the deal with traffic management as the vehicle on the road presented a hazard to oncoming traffic.

The incident took place at 00:23 when one crew from Warrington attended at the scene.
Firefighters used a breathing apparatus and hose reel to put out the fire involving a saloon car.

In another incident at 21:10 last night, a crew from Lymm was called to a fire involving dry hay which had been set alight on farmland on Broad Lane, Grappenhall.

Earlier in the evening at 18:55 one fire engine from Warrington was called to a small fire on Wimborne Close, Sankey Bridges, Warrington.

Firefighters used water backpacks to put out the fire involving branches and shrubs that had been set alight.
