AMAZON’S fulfilment centre in Warrington has made a £1,000 donation to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity, to benefit staff who worked with such dedication during the pandemic.
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity supports the work of the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, one of the largest specialist heart and lung centres in the UK with over 115,000 people depending on its services annually.
The charity supports Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital in three major areas; purchasing of equipment and training for dedicated medical staff, providing additional amenities for patients, their families, and the staff to ensure the hospital remains a warm and welcoming environment, and support for research into the future of treatment for heart and lung diseases.
The donation from Amazon in Warrington will go towards providing additional support for the nearly 600 nurses who work at the hospital.
James Pitt, Site Leader at Amazon in Warrington, said: “Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity is a great support to the hospital, its staff, and its patients. We wanted to make this donation in recognition of the charity’s fantastic work in communities across the North West.”
Ashleigh Green, a receptionist at Amazon in Warrington who nominated the charity for this donation, added: “Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity is a lifeline for many people in our community and I think it’s great that Amazon is supporting the organisation with this donation.”
Mary Liley, from Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity, added: “Thank you to James and his team in Warrington for this support. The work carried out by our charity changes lives, and with heart and lung diseases remaining the main causes of death and disability in the UK, our services have never been needed more. We rely on donations like this to continue serving our community and we really appreciate the support from the Amazon team in Warrington.”
The donation to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.
