Gousto hungry for staff at Warrington fulfilment centre

RECIPE box, Gousto, has announced the creation of 300 new jobs in Warrington as it begins operations in its most advanced fulfilment centre to date.

This comes as the company recently closed its biggest ever fundraise of USD$150m led by investor SoftBank, raising its valuation to USD$1.7bn.

Having hired nearly 130 people to the site already, 300 roles are to be filled in the coming months including Production Supervisors, Warehouse and Fulfilment Operatives, Team Leaders and Quality Assurance Supervisors. The new hires will run the recipe box’s largest fulfilment centre, helping to meet accelerating demand.

With a culture built around its people, Gousto is dedicated to rewarding all teams fairly for their hard work and is proud to be a Real Living Wage employer. This commitment means all colleagues are paid more than the Government Minimum Wage, helping to afford everyday needs.

This focus on people extends beyond Gousto’s own employees too. Supporting the local community, Gousto has donated 70,000 meals to nearly 60 organisations in the local area, from charities and food banks to schools and NHS staff.

Thanks to an ongoing partnership with charity FareShare, hundreds of thousands of Gousto meals have been donated to nearly 2,000 different charities across the UK.

Gousto CEO & Founder Timo Boldt says: “Our purpose is to build amazing products that have positive impact on people and the planet. The launch of our highly automated fulfilment centre in Warrington will get us closer to this purpose, whilst generating even more value for our customers.

“I’m incredibly proud of the team for their dedication to such a complex project. Now the focus is on hiring more amazing talent to join us at this truly exciting time for Gousto.”

The new 307,000 sq ft site in Great Sankey is powered by Gousto’s proprietary technology which helps serve up an unrivalled customer experience; offering more recipe choice than anyone else in the market, minimal food waste, and free, fast delivery to UK homes. The same technology also helps the recipe box meet growing demand by maximising daily picking volumes.

The enhanced automation in Warrington means more weekly recipes can be picked and delivered than ever before from one site, significantly increasing the business’s capacity.

This follows rapid growth and continued increased demand in recent years, with 2020 being a record year for the business and its first full year of profitability. Revenue more than doubled in the year with 53m meals sold.

In line with its purpose to build a product that has a positive impact on people and the planet, Gousto became a certified B Corporation™ last year, joining a global community of businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

As such, the fulfilment centre in Warrington has been built with sustainability front of mind, running off renewable energy and solar panels.
