IT’S top of the league vs third in the league on Saturday when Warrington Rylands 1906 visit Marine in the NPL West.

Starting the season as one of the favourites for promotion, last season’s FA Cup heroes Marine hit the top of the table in early November and are a point ahead of second placed Workington, who in turn are four points in front of Rylands.

Marine have had a couple of wobbles recently losing two of their last six games, another defeat on Saturday against a Rylands team which has won its last two games would open up the title race with Runcorn Linnets and Leek Town also hot on their tails.

Having lost 3-0 at home against Bootle in their festive fixture, Marine snatched a 1-0 win on New Year’s Day at Prescot Cables with a late goal from Neil Kengni.

While Rylands were beating Mossley 2-1 last Saturday the Mariners had their feet up with their scheduled game against 1874 Northwich having been postponed.
