PAST and present Warrington Wolves players have stripped off for a charity “Naked Golf” calendar.
It was the idea of Andy Stevenson, golf professional at Mersey Valley Golf and Country Club, whose daughter Beth suffers from Rett Syndrome.
He and four other parents of children with the condition have set up a new charity, Rett Syndrome Research Trust UK.
Rett Syndrome is a debilitating disorder which most often strikes previously healthy little girls and starts to drag their development backwards meaning they lose normal speech and movement skills.
Andy said: “We all are obviously desperate for a cure for our daughters’ and were keen for any money we raised to go directly to ongoing research projects.
“I have recently done a Naked Golf for Rett Syndrome Research Trust UK calendar for 2011 featuring Lee Briers, Jon Clarke, Ben Harrison, Michael Monaghan, Richie Myler, Gareth O’Brien, Ben Westwood and Paul Wood from Warrington’s current squad and ex-players Mark Hilton and Gary Hulse along with myself.”
Andy and his wife Lisa are also doing The Great Langdale Marathon next month as a fundraiser for the charity.
Anyone who would like to sponsor him or order calendars can contact Andy on 07921 123452 or via www.reverserett.org.uk/who-we-are/andy-stevenson
