BRUCHE Primary School is making its mark with the quality of its geography curriculum.
The Warrington school has just been awarded the Primary Geography Quality Mark – a national accolade that recognises the school’s geography curriculum.
Executive headteacher Chris Jones said: “Geography is a fascinating subject which gives our children an exciting way of connecting with places, people and issues, including what’s on their doorstep and across the world. We’re delighted that geography at Bruche Primary has been recognised in this way.”
The award’s assessor described Bruche Primary’s award submission as “a really thoughtful and realistic approach to developing the curriculum across the school and beyond”, highlighting the “creative and ambitious” study of a range of geography topics including a study of Soweto, global trade, North America, climate change and Warrington and its surroundings.
The Primary Geography Quality Mark is a process of reflection that celebrates achievements, encourages creative and critical thinking and identifies school priorities to help pupils become responsible global citizens.
Award applications are reviewed, assessed and moderated by a national moderation team which includes consultants to the Geography Association and teacher educators, as well as practising teachers; all with extensive expertise in delivering and supporting high-quality learning in geography.
Bruche Primary is one of seven primary schools that make up of Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT), a community of more than 2,100 children aged 2 to 11.
