COVID-19 rates continue to rise as 50 new cases confirmed in Warrington

ANOTHER 50 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Warrington, as infection rates continuing to rise, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson expected to announce a delay of lockdown easing tomorrow, Monday.

The 50 (53) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 18,409 (18,359). No new hospital data will be available until at least Monday afternoon but as of Friday, there was just one covid positive inpatient.



Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to agree to a delay of lockdown easing in England tomorrow.
The lifting of the last remaining coronavirus restrictions is scheduled for 21 June under the government’s road map – but due to concerns about the rapidly-spreading delta variant, this is likely to be postponed for a month. More than 90 percent of new cases in Warrington are the Delta Variant.
While COVID hospital admissions remain low, hospitals are already under pressure due to a backlog of patients due to the impact of the pandemic and any small increase could have a significant impact on the health service.
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days continue to rise, with 218 (204) – 103.8 (97.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– which is now well above the national rate of 64.7 (61.1) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.
Warrington & Halton Hospitals has reintroduced its daily reporting of figures Monday-Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.

There have been no hospital deaths since April.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 487 (486) 231.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 191.5

  1. It certainly looks like the vaccine is having a positive effect when hospital admissions are not rising. Fingers crossed that trend continues and cases start to drop back
