EMERGENCY gas work taking place in London Road, Stockton Heath are progressing well and engineers will be working through the Bank Holiday to keep energy flowing.

Work to repair an underground cast iron gas main in the village will see teams from gas network Cadent working through the Bank Holiday weekend.

The emergency gas team was first called after water was found in gas pipes in Birchdale Road.
There is a water leak also in the area.
During work to fix the gas issues, investigations revealed urgent work was needed on an underground cast iron main in adjacent London Road.
Three-way traffic lights were set up this week to manage the safe flow of vehicles around the work area. These are manned 7am to 7pm, to achieve optimum flow.
No gas supplies are affected and there should no interruption to supplies going forward.
If anyone smells gas, has lost supply or is experiencing low pressures, call the national gas emergency service on 0800 111 999, immediately. Please don’t assume it’s related to this work – it may not be and needs to be checked.
“We hope people understand this is essential work to keep the local gas network operating safely and reliably,” said Mark Syers, Head of Customer Experience – North West, Cadent.
“We appreciate this is a busy area and no one likes sitting in traffic lights. Our teams will be working on this through the bank holiday weekend. We’re progressing well on what is a challenging repair job. Our priority is doing everything safely, and causing as little disruption as we can while doing so.”
