Driver who collided with tree almost three times drink driving limit

UPDATED: A female motorist who collided with a tree on Grappenhall Lane, Appleton, early on Saturday evening was found to be nearly three times the drink driving limit.

The road was closed after the car left the road and collided with a tree.



Fire crews attended following reports the driver was trapped in the car. The woman was out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived.
She was assessed at the scene by paramedics.
Firefighters made the car, a Nissan Juke, safe and were in attendance for around half-an-hour.
The female driver later gave a positive breath test reading of 100 mgs – the legal limit is 35- almost three times the drink driving limit.
