Firefighters called out after clothing set on fire

FIREFIGHTERS from Birchwood were called out this afternoon following reports on fire in the open at Oakwood.

One crew was called out shortly after 16.30 following reports of a fire in the open. On arrival, the crew found a small quantity of clothing well alight off Goldfinch Lane.
One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames.
Meanwhile in another incident last night one fire crew was called out to Winwick Quay at 19:43 to tackle a grass fire.
One fire engine attended from Warrington and firefighters used a water back pack to extinguish the small grass fire.
The crew was in attendance for around 30 minutes.
