Roadmap out of lockdown gives hope for Lymm Historic Transport Day

THE government roadmap out of lockdown has given fresh hope to event organisers for this summer and one of the first to benefit could be Lymm Historic Transport Day on Sunday, June 27.

Event director Alan Williams explained: “There is, at last, a very real prospect of being able to go ahead but there is very little wiggle room in here. We are still absorbing this latest government announcement and can expect clarifications and changes in the weeks to come that might create complications.
“If the easing of restrictions is delayed at any stage by even a week we may yet find ourselves on the wrong side of that “no restrictions” date and, worst case, unable to go ahead – so fingers are firmly crossed. If we can proceed we may need to adapt and adjust to meet any remaining rules and to generally demonstrate good, safe practice.
“But it will all be worth it if it means a positive outcome so right now we are forging ahead with arrangements.”
Main Event Field manager John Parry added: “We really hope we can make this work and celebrate together with an event worthy of Lymm Historic Transport Day and Lymm in general.”
The team already had the event “on ice”, with traders, exhibitors and attractions all booked back in December.
The vast majority of these were originally scheduled for the cancelled 2020 event.
“We are sensing enormous enthusiasm from our car clubs and other vehicle owners. We would love to make it happen,” added Chris Berg, vehicle co-ordinator.
The event is scheduled for June 27th. More information and regular updates at www.lymmtransport.org.uk
